Yamanaka starts the Italian Grand Prix on a good note

The Japanese rider has finished eleventh, in provisional Q2 positions, while his teammate David Alonso has ended seventeenth

Deniz Oncü has been the fastest rider in the opening day of the Italian Grand Prix. The Turkish has presented himself as a contender for victory at Mugello after setting the best time in both practices. Oncü has stopped the clock at 1:56.485, four tenths faster than Ayumu Sasaki, who, as in Spain and France, starts another Grand Prix from second position. The first top 3 of the weekend has been completed by Jaume Masià, who has improved in the second session his morning lap time, with which he had finished twentieth. The World Championship leader Dani Holgado has not started the Italian Grand Prix as he had hoped. The Spanish has suffered a crash in the afternoon and has not been able to finish higher than fifteenth place. Holgado will have to improve his time in the last practice to get directly into Q2, although the forecast of rain on Saturday morning could complicate his plans.

Valresa GASGAS Aspar riders, Ryusei Yamanaka and David Alonso, have completed the first day of practice in Italy with the Japanese inside the provisional Q2 positions. Yamanaka has been out of the top fourteen for most of the session. However, the Japanese rider has taken advantage of his penultimate lap to improve his time by three tenths and finish eleventh. His teammate David Alonso has been close to the top 5 in the first practice session but, in the afternoon, he has not been able to improve his time and has fallen out of the provisional Q2 places. The Colombian, who has arrived to Italy with the aim of improving his grid position, will have to give his best tomorrow in order to start the Italian Grand Prix from the front rows.

11th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:57.619 (+1.134): “I had a good feeling from the first practice. I felt comfortable changing direction, but I suffered chattering because of the track conditions. We have to improve because there is still a big gap with the fastest. We have done better in every session and tomorrow we will try to go faster.”

17th David Alonso 1:57.941 (+1.456): “I have completed a good first practice. To improve in the practice sessions, we set ourselves the target of completing a large number of laps. We did it and now we understand the track better. However, we didn't have the right strategy in the last minutes of the second session and I couldn't get into the provisional Q2 positions. We will see what we can do tomorrow if it rains.”
