The championship leader will start from the last position after not being able to set a good time in qualifying.
Valresa GASGAS Aspar riders will have to come back on Assen after a tough day at the Cathedral of Speed. David Alonso has made it straight into Q2, but at the start of the session he has suffered a crash that has left him with no time to get a good lap. The Colombian will start tomorrow from seventeenth position and will try to make a good first lap in order to reach the front group. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka will face the Dutch Grand Prix race from 25th position. The Japanese rider has improved his time from yesterday in the last practice. However, he has had to compete in Q1, where he has found himself with five of the top eight riders in the overall standings, what made difficult for him to get one of the four places to go to Q2. Yamanaka has been among the top four of the session until the last lap, but in the end, he has finished seven tenths off being able to fight for a better grid position. The Japanese rider, who knows that tomorrow will be a tough race, is confident that he will be able to come back and finish the first part of the season with good feelings.
17th David Alonso 1:42.753: “After a last practice with good feelings, we have gone directly to Q2. I have started with used tyres and I was feeling comfortable, but I have crashed due to a small mistake. I have not been able to finish the session and tomorrow we will start from seventeenth position. We will work on the strategy to make a good start and try to reach the front group.”
25th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:42.843: “Today has been a difficult day. Tomorrow we will start from the back. It's been quite a stressful weekend and I haven't been able to do it better. Tomorrow will be a difficult race, but we will try to come back.”
