JEREZ TEST

Top 2 start for rookie Quiles at the last pre-season test

The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider has led the last session of the day in Jerez, with a time that has allowed him to finish among the best in the small category

CFMOTO Aspar Team rider Máximo Quiles, Moto3 rookie this season, has been one of the most prominent names of the first day of testing at the Jerez – Ángel Nieto circuit, where he has completed all three practice sessions of the day among the four best in Moto3. Quiles has been the fastest in the last session, in which he has achieved a 1:44.896 that has allowed him to be second, only behind Ángel Piqueras. The Valencian was the only one, together with Quiles and teammates Álvaro Carpe and José Antonio Rueda, to go under 1:45 on a day in which the good track conditions have been the protagonists.

Máximo Quiles has arrived in Jerez after completing 80 laps last week at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao. The Murcia-born rider needs to gather as much information as possible before his debut in the Moto3 category, which will be delayed until the Grand Prix of the Americas, when he will have reached the minimum age to compete in the World Championship. Today, in Jerez, he has added another 48 laps between the three sessions. In each of these sessions, Quiles has enjoyed riding the bike and has been consistently among the fastest. His teammate Dennis Foggia is also continuing with his adaptation to the category, in his case by moving from Moto2 to Moto3, and today he has completed 47 laps with a best time of 1:46.753. For the Italian it has been a day of testing so that, together with his technical team, they can choose the best line of work to be prepared for the first race of the season, which will be held on March, 2 in Thailand.

2nd Máximo Quiles 1:44.896 (+0.454, 48 laps): "I'm very happy, it's been a very fun day in which I've been able to enjoy myself a lot on the bike. We're taking steps in the right direction, I'm fast and I have good feelings. There are things that are a bit more difficult for me, because I've just arrived and the level is very high, but in general I'm happy. We're ready for two more days."

23rd Dennis Foggia 1:46.753 (+2.311, 47 laps): "It's been a bit of a complicated day because we've tried a lot of things to find out what works best for us and we've reviewed the data we have available to see where we can be faster. Both the team and I are adapting and getting to know each other, we need time to continue improving. Tomorrow we'll try to take another step forward to push the bike to the limit and be in better positions."
