Dennis Foggia and Jakob Rosenthaler have completed the first practice sessions at the Chang International Circuit.
The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar has finally returned to competition and, after a long wait, the Moto3 riders have already got down to work in Thailand. Dennis Foggia and Jakob Rosenthaler started the day focused on getting the best feeling at the Chang International Circuit. Dennis Foggia put in a solid practice session and made his way into the top 10 of the standings. In the afternoon session, key in this season as it is the only chance to get a direct pass to Q2, the Italian was in the top fourteen for most of the time. In the end he was fifteenth, just 24 thousandths of a second off the cut-off and eight tenths of a second off the fastest, Matteo Bertelle. Stefano Nepa and José Antonio Rueda completed the top positions on the timesheets.
Jakob Rosenthaler is doing his best to adapt to the team as quickly as possible and to get to know the Thai track. The Austrian rider, who replaces Máximo Quiles in the first two rounds of the calendar, improved his morning lap times in the afternoon. In this session, Rosenthaler was 24th and will continue to work to go one step further this Saturday.
15th Dennis Foggia 1:41.736 (+0.805): “I feel pretty good on the bike, but when it came to the fast lap we didn't manage to do a clean lap. I met several riders on track and I didn't get the direct pass to Q2. Thanks to the team for all the work, we'll try again tomorrow.”
25th Jakob Rosenthaler 1:42.956 (+2.025): “We have completed the first day here in Thailand, although I'm not very happy with the result. After a long run I got to know the track better and the feeling was good. We worked on having good references and trying to make a good lap. In the afternoon the sensations were not the same. I focused on riding alone and it was difficult because I still need more laps. Tomorrow will be another day and we will keep working to improve.”
