The Colombian rider has set his best time in the final part of the second practice session. Yamanaka has started the Dutch Grand Prix in 19th position
The Moto3 riders have kicked off the Dutch Grand Prix with Jaume Masià as the fastest rider. The Spanish has led both sessions, setting the best time in the afternoon with a 1:41.579, less than four tenths of a second off the track record. Stefano Nepa and Romano Fenati have completed the top three, starting the weekend among the best three riders for the first time this year. On the other hand, two of the fastest riders of the season, Dani Holgado and Iván Ortolá, have had a difficult first day. Both have suffered a crash in the morning and another one in the afternoon. Holgado has been able to save the situation after setting the tenth best time of the day, while Ortolá has not managed to go beyond the twenty-sixth position.
Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso has finished his first day at Assen in sixth position. The Colombian has started the weekend trying to find references and good feelings in a new track for him. Alonso has remained outside the provisional Q2 positions for most of the session, until in the final part, when he has improved his morning time by more than a second and has ended sixth. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka has finished the first practices in 19th place. The Japanese rider has suffered an incident at the start of the first session, but has been able to return to the track without any problems. Yamanaka, who hasn't ridden comfortably due to the wind, has not improved his time in the afternoon and will have to fight tomorrow to get direct access to Q2.
6th David Alonso 1:42.200 (+0.621): “The first laps have been difficult for me because I didn't know the track. It's a very flat circuit, with a slow sector, but with very fast corners. It's complicated to follow a good line if you don't have references. In the morning I have worked well studying the track, while in the afternoon, I have been able to improve where I was losing time and I have finished sixth. We have a good feeling for tomorrow.”
19th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:42.809 (+1.230): “In the first practice I have had a small incident and I have not been able to complete many laps, although I have had good feelings. In the afternoon I expected to improve my time, but with the wind I have had no chance to do it. It hasn't been an easy session because some riders have crashed in front of me. We have to improve the set-up of the bike and tomorrow we will give everything to get directly into Q2. I'm very confident in my chances.”
