Silverstone, year 1 after Alonso’s maiden win

The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider wants to win again in the British track to continue increasing his 58-points lead

Summer break is over. The Moto3 World Championship is back this weekend with the British GP. The lightweight category travels to Silverstone to compete in the tenth round of the year and thus begin the second half of the season. The first one has had a clear dominator: CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider David Alonso. The young Colombian has won six out of the nine races held so far and leads the World Championship with a comfortable advantage of 58 points over his immediate pursuer, Spanish Iván Ortolá. Now, Alonso arrives in Silverstone, the track where he got his maiden world championship win last season. The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider shone on the British track and staged an incredible comeback from last position on the grid to the win. With this victory, he became the first Colombian rider in history to win a race in the World Championship. Since then, he has added nine more victories, and this weekend he will fight to win again in Silverstone and repeat at the top of the podium, something he already achieved in Barcelona, where he won in 2023 and also this season.

His teammate Joel Esteban faces, once again, a track that he does not know, but arrives with a lot of motivation and confidence. In his debut year in Moto3, the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider has completed a very competitive first half of the season. The Spanish has had a great adaptation to the category and has regularly fought to be in the points zone. In the second part of the year, Esteban sets the goal of taking a step forward that will allow him to fight constantly in the front group. In Silverstone, the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider will work to be competitive from the start, be able to ride fast alone and complete a clean weekend that will let him achieve a good result in the race.

David Alonso: “I have pretty good memories of Silverstone because there I won my first race in the World Championship. Now we arrive after a three-week break, so we have to get back into the pace, little by little, to regain the competition feeling. Silverstone is one of the longest tracks, we do few laps there, and it will be important to do quality laps.”

Joel Esteban: “I am really looking forward to the British GP. Silverstone is a track that I have always really liked, when I have seen it on TV. It is another new track for me, but this year I have already gone fast on tracks I did not know. We will have to work a lot from the beginning, and I will try to ride alone to have a good pace in the race. During the break I have trained a lot, both on the bike and physically. I face the second part of the season with great enthusiasm, I want to continue on the right path, achieving good results.”
