Second row for Ryusei Yamanaka at Jerez

The Japanese rider will start the Spanish Grand Prix from sixth position and David Alonso from seventeenth

Deniz Öncü is dominating the Spanish Grand Prix after being the fastest in the practice sessions and qualifying. The Turkish rider will start from pole position for the first time this season and will fight for his first victory in Moto3. Iván Ortolá, who had to go through Q1, will start from second position, showing that he is still in great form after his first win in the small category at the Americas Grand Prix. David Muñoz has set the third fastest time, but on his last lap he has crashed and will have to undergo a medical check to see if he can compete tomorrow.

Ryusei Yamanaka has achieved his best grid position since his arrival to Gaviota GASGAS Aspar and will start the Spanish Grand Prix sixth. David Alonso and Ryusei Yamanaka have started the second day in Jerez on a high after setting the second and fourth fastest times in the third practice session. The Japanese rider clocked a time of 1:46.198 and has ended just two tenths of a second off the front row. His teammate David Alonso has found great feelings in the morning session. The Colombian has set his best lap at the Jerez Angel-Nieto Circuit and has gone straight into Q2. However, luck was not on the Colombian's side in qualifying. The track temperature has increased and Alonso has not been able to set a good lap. However, the young rider is ready to come back tomorrow and get a good result.

6th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:46.198 (+0.530): “I am happy with my work today. The lap time was very good, but we need to improve some details. On my last lap I could have done a better time, but I couldn't do the last sector as well as I would have liked. The feeling with the bike was good and in these hot conditions we are strong. We are ready to fight for a good result tomorrow.”

17th David Alonso 1:46.744 (1.076): “The last practice session was very good. We were able to run on our own to prepare tomorrow's race and I could do a great lap to go straight into Q2. I've never been so fast here before and I'm happy about that. Already in the qualifying, the track changed a lot and I didn't feel comfortable. Tomorrow we will start from 17th position, so it will be a tough race.”
