Quiles' fifth podium finish to round off the first half of the season

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider finished second after an exciting battle for the podium with his teammate Dennis Foggia, who finished fifth

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team had a great Sunday of racing at the Brno circuit. Máximo Quiles secured his fifth podium in just eight races thanks to his second-place finish today, while his teammate Dennis Foggia finished fifth and had one of his best races of the season. José Antonio Rueda was the winner after leading alone and gaining a more than three-second advantage over Quiles. Third place was decided by thousandths of a second and on this occasion went to David Muñoz, who started from the back of the grid.

Máximo Quiles and Dennis Foggia started the Czech Grand Prix race from the second row of the grid. Both riders had felt very positive the day before and wanted to continue in the same vein on Sunday. With 17 laps to go, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team riders quickly moved into podium positions. The Spanish rider tried to keep up with the race leader to prevent him from pulling away. Despite dropping to fifth position momentarily, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rookie returned to the top three alongside his teammate. On the last lap, Quiles fought off his rivals until the final metres, taking second place by just 24 thousandths. Dennis Foggia used all his experience on the Czech circuit to fight for his second podium of the season. The Italian rider was involved in constant position changes with his teammate, and both reached the final laps with a chance to repeat the double podium they achieved at the Italian Grand Prix. On the final lap, however, Foggia fell to fifth place and was unable to recover. The Italian rider completed one of his best races since returning to Moto3. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team heads into the summer break with Máximo Quiles in fourth place in the category standings, six points behind third-placed Álvaro Carpe, and Dennis Foggia in ninth. In the team standings, Sunday's results saw the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team move up to third place with 161 points.

2nd Máximo Quiles (+3.471): “I knew I had something extra today to follow Rueda. I tried to stay behind him as much as I could, I had a very good pace and I worked hard all weekend to achieve it. Several riders were battling it out in the group, which caused us to fall behind the leader. I don't know if I could have held on until the end, but I think I had a chance. I'm a little angry, but I'm happy because we've improved a lot and I have the speed. Now we have to keep training and improving that pace.”

5th Dennis Foggia (+3.689): “I'm very happy with the race. I would have loved to be on the podium, but the important thing is that we were up there at the front. Moto3 races are like that. On the last lap, I lost a few positions, Máximo pulled away, and I couldn't catch up with him. I'll take away the fact that I felt really good. We stayed in the top three for practically the entire race, and that gives us a lot of confidence for the second half of the season.”
