Quiles completes a full house of Q2 appearances

The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar rider clocked the eighth fastest time of the day, while his teammate Dennis Foggia will have to compete in Q1

The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team experienced mixed fortunes at the start of the Valencia GP. Máximo Quiles secured a place in tomorrow's Q2 after finishing in eighth position and will fight for a place on the front row of the starting grid, while his teammate Dennis Foggia finished twenty-second and will have to get through Q1 on Saturday if he wants to be in contention for the front positions. David Almansa set the pace on Friday ahead of Adrián Fernández and Valentín Perrone, second and third respectively.

The Valencia GP got underway under cloudy skies during this morning's free practice sessions. Máximo Quiles started strongly on this first day and was one of the fastest riders despite the tricky track conditions, with some wet patches that could cause a crash. In the afternoon, rising temperatures and improved track conditions provided a great opportunity to step up and secure a place in Saturday's Q2. The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team riders completed a session in which they did not find their best feeling, although both were able to improve their times. Máximo Quiles tried to close the gap on the fastest riders, but his 1:38.130 ultimately placed him in eighth position, seven tenths of a second behind the leader. Thanks to this result, the best Moto3 rookie confirms his participation in all Q2 sessions in his first season in the category. On the other hand, his teammate Dennis Foggia had a difficult start to the weekend, in which he was unable to find comfort riding the Moto3. The Italian rider, despite improving his times by almost two seconds compared to the morning, was unable to qualify among the top fourteen and tomorrow he will have to go through Q1 in his last timed session in the small category.

8th Máximo Quiles 1:38.130 (+0.797): “I'm not very happy with the result. We achieved our goal, which was to qualify for Q2, but this afternoon I didn't have the same feeling as in the morning. I don't know exactly why, so this afternoon we're going to work to see where we can improve.”

22nd Dennis Foggia 1:38.844 (+1.511): “It wasn't a good day to start the weekend. I have to improve in many areas and I didn't feel very comfortable with the bike. Tomorrow we will continue working to get through to Q2 and have a good race on Sunday.”
