Quiles achieves the 450th podium for “Aspar” and the Aspar Team

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider fought for victory until the very last metres and finished second, while his teammate Dennis Foggia was eleventh

Máximo Quiles returned to the podium at the German Grand Prix. The rookie in the lightweight category put in an outstanding performance at Sachsenring, leading for several laps and fighting for victory until the final metres. With this second place, the Spanish rider has achieved his fourth podium in just seven races. His teammate Dennis Foggia finished eleventh after climbing 12+1 positions throughout the race. Andalusian David Muñoz reached the top of the podium and secured his second Moto3 victory, ahead of the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider. Quiles overtook championship leader José Antonio Rueda at the finish line. This result is also the 450th podium for Jorge Martínez “Aspar” and the Aspar Team.

The Moto3 race at the German Grand Prix started in dry conditions, although some areas were still wet in the early laps. The previous day's rain had reduced the amount of rubber on the track and, therefore, the grip. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team riders had two very different scenarios, with Máximo Quiles in the front rows of the grid and Dennis Foggia at the back. The Spanish rider made a good start and maintained a high pace that allowed him to reach the podium positions. Quiles continues to learn with every race and, despite his limited experience in the world championship, he was once again one of the riders to beat throughout the 23 laps. The Moto3 rookie led the group for most of the race, although in the final laps he had to fight to earn a place on the podium. On the last lap, Quiles gave it his all to overtake his rivals and in the final corner he pushed hard to take second place and secure his fourth podium in seven races. His teammate Dennis Foggia was hampered by his starting position at Sachsenring. The Italian was forced to fight his way up the field after failing to make it through Q1 yesterday, and he was able to overtake numerous riders to quickly reach the points zone. Not satisfied with this result, Foggia rode at a similar pace to the front group and continued to climb positions to finish eleventh, scoring new points that allowed him to reach the top 10 in the overall standings. Quiles, meanwhile, is sixth, 24 points behind second place.

2nd Máximo Quiles (+0.241): “It was a crazy race, but I really enjoyed it and I'm happy with the result. I don't like to bump into other riders, but I saw a gap on the last lap and had to try. The strategy for the last lap didn't work out as I wanted because I was very strong in the first corner and in the last ones, I wanted to overtake one rider on the downhill and then another in the last corner. This is Moto3, I'm gaining experience in overtaking and I feel comfortable in close combat. I want to dedicate this podium to Borja.”

11th Dennis Foggia (+9.429): “I felt very good in the race. I made up a lot of positions and halfway through the race I was riding very fast. I could have fought for the podium if I hadn't started so far back. In the end, eleventh is not a result I like, but starting from the back I'm happy with the work. We are tenth in the world championship, there is still a long way to go and if we continue like this, we can reach the top 5 quickly. Race by race I am feeling better and better, it is a very different bike, but we are getting there. Thanks to the team, see you soon!”
