One tenth separates Quiles from pole position in his first race

The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider completed an impeccable qualifying session in his first Moto3 weekend, in which Dennis Foggia will start from the second row

A tenth of a second separated Máximo Quiles from pole position in his first Grand Prix in the World Championship after qualifying directly into Q2 yesterday. It was a thrilling qualifying for the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team at the Grand Prix of the Americas, where the Spanish rider adapted quickly to both the bike and the team and rode alone as he improved his time lap after lap. In the last minute, Quiles took provisional pole after a great lap and a time of 2:14.532. With the time already completed, David Muñoz snatched the pole by just 110 thousandths of a second, so Quiles will start from the second position on the grid in his first race with the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team. Joel Kelso will join him in the top three.

Dennis Foggia made a big step forward on Saturday at the COTA. After a free practice in dry conditions, albeit with some patches of water on the track, the Italian rider went into Q1 this afternoon ready to take his place in Q2 and fight for the front positions. The Italian CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider showed great pace from start to finish and closed the gap to the leading riders. In the end, Foggia took fifth place with a time of 2:14.738, just three tenths of a second off pole, and will start tomorrow's race from the second row of the grid.

2nd Máximo Quiles 2:14.532 (+0.110): “It's been a very good debut. It was a pity that they took pole from me on the last lap, but I'm really happy with how the weekend is going and I'm really enjoying myself on the bike, which is what I came here for this week. I had confidence in myself, I went turn by turn and I was convinced that I could go fast. I was concentrated, I've rode alone it was a very good lap. The result would have been good no matter what, but a second place is very good. I've improved my feeling, I'm adapting well and I feel very good with the bike. Tomorrow will be my first race and we have to finish it, I'm looking forward to it. I will give my best and we will enjoy as much as we can.”

5th Dennis Foggia 2:14.738 (+0.316): “I'm very happy with the qualifying result. We had a good Q1 and a good Q2 in Austin. I made a mistake in the last corner which prevented me from doing a perfect lap. We could have been on the front row, but I am very happy with the job done. Tomorrow we will give it our all in the race.”
