Ryusei Yamanaka and David Alonso hope to continue their upward trend at the third Grand Prix of the season
The Circuit of the Americas hosts the third round of the year for the Moto3 riders. Daniel Holgado arrives to the USA as the World Championship leader after scoring 38 points in the two Grands Prix held so far. Together with him in the top three are Diogo Moreira, who has been on the podium in the first two races, and Tatsuki Suzuki, who arrives to Austin after winning the Argentina Grand Prix with authority. Still without a clear candidate for the title, there are several riders who will try to take the victory in a race that will start on Sunday at 18.00h (Spanish time).
The Valresa GASGAS Aspar is confident ahead of the Americas Grand Prix after scoring its first points of the season in Argentina. Ryusei Yamanaka managed to come back from twenty-third position on the first lap to finish the race ninth. The Japanese rider arrives to Austin, a complicated track for him, aiming to continue taking steps forward and to show all the potential he has. For his part, David Alonso was able to open his points tally with his first two points after finishing fourteenth in Argentina. The Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider experienced a tough race in which he could ride in the top 10 and took advantage of the race to gain experience in wet conditions. The Colombian rider is focused on having a good weekend and will try to adapt as quickly as possible to another unknown track for him.
Ryusei Yamanaka: “Honestly, the Americas GP track is not one of my favourites, but we know what we need and we will have to work hard from the beginning. We are focused to give our best in the third Grand Prix of the season.”
David Alonso: “We are confident for the third race of the championship. From what I have seen, the Austin circuit is a bit unusual. It seems very long, fun and complex to memorise. It will be important to familiarise ourselves with the track from the first practice and complete as many laps as possible. We will try to do as we did in Argentina, to be active from the beginning and learn the secrets of the circuit.”
