Joel Esteban to replace Máximo Quiles again

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team returns to Jerez, where it already had three days of preseason testing back in February, but will do so again without Máximo Quiles

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team is competing at home for the first time this season, once again with a semi-complete Moto3 lineup. Máximo Quiles' injury, for which he underwent surgery on Friday at the Qatar Grand Prix, still prevents him from competing with the team, so Joel Esteban will once again replace him in the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team pit box. This weekend in Jerez, both Esteban and Dennis Foggia face a new challenge with the aim of putting the Qatar result behind them. To do so, they will face around twenty riders, including the new Moto3 leader, Ángel Piqueras, who only has one point more than local rider José Antonio Rueda.

Dennis Foggia heads into the Spanish Grand Prix from ninth place overall, with 24 points and 43 behind the leader of the lightweight category. The Italian knows he's competitive. In Qatar, he was fighting with the leading group when he crashed on the fourth lap; in Thailand, he was fighting for the podium when a crash ahead of him cut him out of the lead group. This weekend, he'll be looking to avoid problems in the race on Sunday by securing a good grid position in Saturday's qualifying session. On the other side of the pit box, Joel Esteban faces his fourth Grand Prix of the season, all of them as a replacement rider, in a year in which his goal is to fight for the JuniorGP title with the Aspar Team Junior. Esteban was close to a top 10 finish when, like his teammate, he suffered a crash that prevented him from finishing. Now he arrives in Jerez, where he hopes to reverse the outcome of the 2024 race. To do so, like Foggia, he aims to improve both Friday and Saturday, so he can be more competitive on Sunday.

Dennis Foggia: “We're returning to Europe; it's the first race of the year there, and we're racing in Jerez, where we've already done preseason testing. It's not a circuit I like or that suits my style very well, but I'll still try to be as far up front as possible and fight for the top positions.”

Joel Esteban: “I want to wish Máximo a speedy recovery and, at the same time, I want to thank the team for the opportunity they’ve given me. I'm really looking forward to race in Jerez. Despite the crash, I finished with a very good feeling in Qatar and I see that I have made a step forward in terms of riding, but also mentally. In Jerez we will focus on continuing to learn as my goal this year is the JuniorGP. We will continue to add kilometres on the Moto3 to understand the bike better. I must improve things on Friday and Saturday to be more competitive on Sunday."
