Dennis Foggia finished eighth at Assen, on a day when Máximo Quiles took the lead but was unable to transform it in a good result and finished fifteenth after a crash
The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team leaves the Netherlands with very positive conclusions after Sunday's race. Máximo Quiles fought for victory until the final laps, although he finished fifteenth after the race was stopped on the last lap, just after suffering a crash. Dennis Foggia finished eighth and completed a solid race, moving up the field to fight for the top 5. The podium on this occasion was made up of José Antonio Rueda, who maintains the lead in the standings thanks to this new victory; David Muñoz in second place and Valentín Perrone in third.
The Moto3 race at the Dutch Grand Prix once again offered a thrilling battle for the top positions. The lightweight category race was once again contested by a large group of riders, including the members of the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team. Máximo Quiles, who started from the second row of the grid, got off to a good start and showed great pace from the outset, recovering positions to reach the podium places before the halfway point of the race. The Spaniard, who lost a few places after a collision with another rider, showed great maturity in recovering and leading the race for several laps. Quiles suffered a crash when he was on course for his fourth consecutive podium finish. Despite this, the Moto3 rookie got back on his bike, although he was already out of the points, but managed to recover to finish fifteenth. His teammate Dennis Foggia went from strength to strength and recovered positions in a race that was marked by numerous crashes. The Italian rider was very consistent and gave his all to try to finish at least in the top five. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider was in sixth place when the race was cancelled due to a crash in the last corner involving three riders, but a penalty for exceeding the track limits dropped him back to eighth place. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team leaves the TT Circuit Assen satisfied with the good feelings obtained, although the final results did not reflect the good form of both riders.
8th Dennis Foggia (+5.034): “After the second lap, I had quite a lot of discomfort in my arm. I tried to push as hard as possible so as not to lose the group and attack. I received a penalty for exceeding the track limits. We were sixth when the race was stopped, and although I finished eighth in the end, I'm happy with that result. We are making progress and in Germany we have another opportunity to continue working as we are doing.”
15th Máximo Quiles (+24,394): “It was a race where I learned a lot. I was riding very strongly and felt very comfortable in front of all the leading riders. I felt I had a better pace than the rest and I was looking forward to fighting in the final laps to try to win, so I'm a little angry about that. I lost a few positions after a few touches, but I kept my cool because I knew I could easily make up for it. The crash was very strange, the front has closed and I could do nothing. We are very motivated and convinced that we can be strong again and keep fighting. I think Sachsenring will suit me well.”
