David Alonso and Ryusei Yamanaka have had a difficult qualifying session and will start from fifteenth and sixteenth position respectively
Ayumu Sasaki has been once again the fastest rider on Sachsenring, taking his fourth pole position of the season. The Japanese rider has beaten his own track record, set yesterday in the first practice session, by seven tenths of a second, and will start tomorrow's race from the front of the grid. The Japanese rider will try to break away as Izan Guevara did in 2022. Sasaki has stopped the clock at 1:25.130, one second faster than Deniz Öncü and Ivan Ortolà, who complete the front row of the grid. Collin Veijer has finished behind them, with his best starting position of his career, fourth. David Muñoz and Jaume Masià complete the second row, with the World Championship leader, Daniel Holgado, just behind them, seventh.
For the third time this season, the Gaviota GASGAS Aspar riders have made it directly into Q2 after a final practice in which no one has improved his lap time due to the rain. The qualifying has been held in dry conditions, but Alonso and Yamanaka have not had the luck on their side. David Alonso will start the German Grand Prix from fifteenth place. The Colombian has set a time, riding on his own, that has placed him ninth. However, on his last lap, he has not been able to take advantage of the new tyre due to technical problems and has not improved his time. His Gaviota GASGAS Aspar teammate Ryusei Yamanaka has had a very difficult qualifying session. The Japanese rider has been disturbed by other riders who were waiting to take a slipstream and has been unable to comfortably fight for a better grid position. Yamanaka will start the German Grand Prix from 16th place, just behind his teammate.
15th David Alonso 1:27.366 (+2.236): “I could have been able to get a better grid position today. I have had a good feeling in the qualifying from the beginning. In the first run I have ridden quite fast on my own, while in the second run I had a reference to get a slipstream and qualify better. However, I have had a problem with the bike and I haven't been able to change gear properly. Even so, I have been able to improve my time by a tenth of a second, but I haven't taken advantage of the new tyre.”
16th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:27.493 (+2.363): “I'm not happy. The other riders have been waiting too much and it's dangerous. If they don't get any penalties, I wouldn't understand anything. I have managed to do one lap, but it has been very stressful. Tomorrow I'll start from the middle and I'll have to do my best.”
