Gaviota GASGAS Aspar, ready for its first home GP

Ryusei Yamanaka and David Alonso look forward to the first of three races in Spai

The Moto3 riders return to Europe this weekend with the Spanish Grand Prix as the next round. The Jerez - Ángel Nieto circuit has been hosting Grands Prix since 1987 and has become a reference for motorcycling. In such a historic track, two young riders like Daniel Holgado and Diogo Moreira will try to take the victory in order to break away from the other in the overall standings. Both are tied on 49 points after an Americas Grand Prix in which neither of them was able to finish on the podium.

Gaviota GASGAS Aspar arrives optimistic at the Jerez - Ángel Nieto circuit, a special track for the team, which has won six races in the small category since 2006. Last year, Izan Guevara and Sergio García got a valuable one-two finish that confirmed them as two of the main contenders for the title. This season, Ryusei Yamanaka and David Alonso will fight in Jerez with the aim of keeping growing with the GASGAS. The Japanese rider will compete in his fifth World Championship race at this circuit, where he has an eighth position as his best result. Yamanaka hopes to find good feelings on the bike again and continue with the positive progression that he has been showing since the beginning of the competition. His teammate David Alonso will try to take advantage of the experience of riding the Moto3 bike on this track to have a good weekend. The Colombian rider arrives after completing a great comeback in Austin and will be aiming to improve further in order to get closer to the fastest riders in the Championship.

Ryusei Yamanaka: “We have already ridden at Jerez this year in preseason and I know I can be fast. After this week's break, I've been able to rest and think about what we need to improve in order to make further steps forward from this Grand Prix.”

David Alonso: “We arrive at a circuit I know, Jerez. We will try to take advantage of this experience in the first laps of the weekend because we won't need to study the track and its lines. Compared to Austin, we will try to work more on our own to prepare properly for the race. The aim is the same, to keep improving from the previous Grand Prix, but we will also try to get closer and closer to the front positions.”
