Gaviota GASGAS Aspar looking to make a comeback at Le Mans

Ryusei Yamanaka will start the French Grand Prix fourteenth, while David Alonso will be looking to move up from twenty-fifth place

Ayumu Sasaki has taken his third pole position of the season, after those achieved in Portugal and Argentina. The Japanese rider has proved once again that he is one of the fastest riders in the category, setting the fastest time in the qualifying session with a gap of three tenths of a second over the two riders who lead the overall standings, Diogo Moreira and Daniel Holgado. While the Brazilian and the Spanish will start the French Grand Prix from the front, third-placed Iván Ortolá will start sixth.

Gaviota GASGAS Aspar will be looking for a comeback tomorrow at Le Mans. Ryusei Yamanaka has not had his best qualifying session and will start the race from the fifth row. The Japanese rider has finished fourteenth after being unable to improve his time due to the traffic on the track. Yamanaka will try to make a good start to join the front group and fight for podium positions. His Gaviota GASGAS Aspar teammate David Alonso has gone into Q1 for the second time this season after a final practice session in which he has been unable to improve his time due to the wet track. The Colombian rider, who has had a difficult qualifying practice, will start the French Grand Prix from twenty-fifth place and will try to make up positions as he did in the United States and Spain.

14th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:42.878 (+1.248): “The qualifying was complicated, because in the last run I couldn't improve my time. At the first run, I wasn't totally comfortable, I was hoping for more, but I was held up by the front group and I couldn't overtake them. It's not the best lap, but we have to concentrate on tomorrow's race and, above all, on the start.”

25th David Alonso 1:44.181: “The last practice was on wet conditions and it helped us to gain feelings. The Q1 didn't go as I expected and I couldn't qualify. I had to ride alone and I did my best. Tomorrow we'll do more.”
