Gaviota GASGAS Aspar eager to show strong shape in France

David Alonso and Ryusei Yamanaka travel to France after an intense week in Jerez, where both could fight for the win

The Moto3 World Championship reaches its next destination: France, where the 1000th Grand Prix in history will be held this weekend. After the Spanish Grand Prix, the top riders in the overall standings are closer than before, with five riders in less than 18 points. Daniel Holgado remains the leader, four points ahead of Diogo Moreira, who could only finish tenth in Spain. With his victory in Jerez, Ortolá moves up to third, while Masià and Artigas complete the top five. Most of the riders in the small category head to the race in France after a day of testing at the Jerez - Angel Nieto Circuit last Tuesday. Fifteen riders took the opportunity to try different modifications in the set-up of their bikes in order to be better prepared for Le Mans.

Gaviota GASGAS Aspar heads into the French Grand Prix in good shape after fighting for the win in the last race. David Alonso and Ryusei Yamanaka experienced a positive Grand Prix at the Jerez - Angel Nieto Circuit, where Alonso made history by becoming the first Colombian to finish on the podium in the World Championship. Now, he arrives to France as the best rookie in the category, tied on points with José Antonio Rueda, and will try to continue proving that he is ready to fight with the fastest riders. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka did not have the luck on his side in Jerez, but the Japanese rider showed he has the pace to fight for the podium. Yamanaka arrives at a circuit where he already scored eight points last year and will try to continue in the same way to get a positive result.

David Alonso: “We are coming to a track where I have never been before. We will try to continue with the same mentality as in Argentina and Austin, other circuits where I had never raced before, and we will try to understand the circuit in the minimum number of laps possible. On this base, we will continue to work to prepare ourselves for the race.”

Ryusei Yamanaka: “I like the Le Mans circuit. It will probably be a cold and rainy weekend, as most of the time there, and we will have to adapt to that. The Spanish Grand Prix was very positive and we will try to continue in this way. I want to push from the first practice and focus on my riding.”
