FOURTH WIN!

Gaviota GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso takes victory in Thailand and becomes the rider with the most wins of the season at the moment

Gaviota GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso has become rookie of the year after taking victory in his first participation at the Thai Grand Prix. Alonso has made a great start and in the second lap he was already in the top 3. The Colombian has fought throughout the race in the front group and has been able to cross the finish line in first position with an advantage of more than two tenths over Taiyo Furusato and Collin Veijer, who have completed the podium. With this victory, Alonso has now four wins on his debut in the World Championship and becomes the rider with the most victories at the moment. With three Grands Prix to go, the Colombian is third in the overall standings, 25 points off the leader, Jaume Masià. The Spanish has been able to increase his advantage over Ayumu Sasaki and Dani Holgado, who have been involved in an incident on the second lap that has ended with the Japanese rider crashing and without options to score points, although he has been able to return to the track. As for Holgado, he has moved down to 27th place and has had to go to great lengths to recover positions to end in sixth, to stay in the fight for the championship.

Gaviota GASGAS Aspar rider Ryusei Yamanaka has closed the Thai Grand Prix in ninth position. The Japanese has lost some places in the first laps and has tried to push to follow the front group. Yamanaka has stayed among the best riders throughout the race and has been able to finish in the top 10. The Japanese completes a positive weekend in which he has been in the leading positions in all the sessions and he will keep fighting for ambitious goals in the remaining three Grands Prix.

Winner David Alonso: “Incredible! Becoming rookie of the year is very emotional for me and for the team. It has been a slow race, so I have tried to manage it in the best way. I knew that the slipstreaming was going to be important because on the last lap there were a lot of riders fighting for the win. I have arrived to the last lap in a good position and I have been able to achieve an important victory for us. We will keep pushing in the championship and we will give our all until the end.”

9th Ryusei Yamanaka (+1.413): “I have been very strong throughout the weekend, but today I couldn't get the result I was looking for. The feeling with the bike has been good, but I have struggled a lot on the straight. We have to find a solution and keep working. We will try again in Malaysia.”
