The Italian rider finished fourth on a first day in Lusail marked by the absence of Máximo Quiles due to injury
The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team started the Qatar Grand Prix with the absence of Máximo Quiles, who will not be able to participate this weekend due to an injury he sustained while training and will be replaced for the remainder of the Grand Prix by Joel Esteban. Dennis Foggia was the only representative of the team on this first day. The Italian rider had a good feeling in the morning session despite the high temperatures at the Lusail International Circuit. In the afternoon session, at night and with a slight drop in temperature, Foggia improved his lap times by almost two seconds and fine-tuned his set-up for Saturday's qualifying session. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider was very consistent throughout the session and was able to close the gap to the leading riders. In the last minutes, after a touch with a rival, he suffered a crash that prevented him from improving his lap time, although his 2:03.625 placed him in fourth position, three tenths off the reference time set by José Antonio Rueda. In this way, tomorrow he will avoid the Q1 and will fight directly for the first positions on the grid.
4th Dennis Foggia 2:03.625 (+0.348): “The truth is that I felt good with the bike on this first day. We've made progress with the front end and are improving our feelings with the bike and the team. We know which tyre to use to set a good time in qualifying, but in the race we have to use the other one, and we need to work to improve with it."
