Gaviota GASGAS Aspar opens French Grand Prix with Yamanaka thirteenth and Alonso twenty-first
Jaume Masià has been the fastest of the first day of practice in France, as he did a couple of weeks ago in Jerez, although he has kept his best laps for the end of the session, as with just a few minutes to go he was out of the positions that give access to Q2. The Moto3 riders have taken advantage of the best conditions of the afternoon to set their times. Only Diogo Moreira, second in the morning, and Tatsuki Suzuki have failed to improve in the second session. One of the strongest riders in practice sessions this year, Ayumu Sasaki, has ended behind Masià, and Xavier Artigas is third.
Gaviota GASGAS Aspar has started the French Grand Prix with good feelings. Ryusei Yamanaka has progressed as the day went on and in the second practice he has been able to ride at a good pace. The Japanese rider, who did not find a good feeling on the bike in the morning, has improved his time in the afternoon and has finished the session thirteenth. His teammate David Alonso has completed his first laps at Le Mans trying to find references and good feelings. The Colombian has felt comfortable with the bike, but has not managed to set a good lap in the second practice. Alonso will be looking to improve his time in the final practice session in order to qualify directly for Q2.
12+1 Ryusei Yamanaka 1:42.762 (+0.916): “I'm happy with the first day. In the morning we struggled to find a good feeling, but in the afternoon we solved the problem and I started to feel better. The pace is good, but we need a bit more to do a fast lap. I'm satisfied with today's work.”
21st David Alonso 1:43.256 (+1.410): “In the first practice session I tried to understand the track and it didn't take me long to feel comfortable. I had a good first practice, but in the second we had to stop due to a problem with the gearbox. When I came back in I was alone on the track and I still lacked laps on this circuit to be able to push alone and I couldn't improve. Tomorrow we will keep working.”
