David Alonso to bid farewell to Moto3 from pole

The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider has broken the all-time lap record at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya to achieve his seventh pole of the year

CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider David Alonso will face his last Moto3 race from pole position. The world champion has achieved his seventh pole of the year at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya after beating the track record. Alonso has gone straight into Q2 after achieving the second best time in the last practice session. In qualifying, the Colombian has set the pace from the first minutes and has given his rivals no chance. In his first attempt he has set a time of 1:46.026, a register that has put him at the top of the timesheets. However, he still had more and in his second attempt he has improved to 1:45.905. With this time, Alonso has beaten by two tenths the previous track record, which he set at the Catalan GP. Despite there were still many minutes left to go, no rider has been able to improve his time. In fact, Alonso has been the only one to complete a lap in 1:45. Tomorrow, the Colombian will fight to score his fourteenth victory of the year to close his time in Moto3 on a high note. Behind the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider will start Collin Veijer and Iván Ortolá, who are fighting for the runner-up position alongside Dani Holgado, who will start from fifth place.

Marcos Uriarte will start his first race with the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team from twenty-first position. The young Spanish continues to make progress in his debut with the team and is satisfied with the work done on the second day. After setting the twenty-fifth best time in the last practice, Uriarte has competed in Q1, a session in which he has achieved a time of 1:47.802 which will allow him to start tomorrow from the seventh row of the grid.

Valencia and its citizens are experiencing one of the most challenging moments in recent history. The surrounding areas of the city are facing a severe climate emergency due to intense rainfall and flash floods. Thousands of families have lost their homes, businesses, and access to basic services like drinking water, electricity, and safe shelter. At Aspar Team, in collaboration with GoFundMe, we have launched this campaign to support those affected, providing immediate aid and hope to those most in need. Every donation is backed by our guarantee, ensuring that funds go directly to those impacted by this crisis.

1st David Alonso 1:45.905: “Today I can say that I was looking for pole and I got it. I have been concentrated on riding and I was sure of what I was doing. In the last practice session, we have worked on our pace, on being consistent for the race. Tomorrow the goal is to enjoy it, whatever happens, I want to enjoy my last race in Moto3 and see the chequered flag.”

21st Marcos Uriarte 1:47.802: “It has been a positive day, we have taken another step forward. I have a bittersweet taste because I could have gone through to Q2, but another rider has bothered me. The important thing is that every time we go out on track we improve and I am happy with that. Tomorrow is going to be a great day.”
