David Alonso leaves no doubts and gets his fourth pole

The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider has been the fastest in all sessions and tomorrow he will fight for victory from first position

CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider David Alonso has achieved his fourth pole position this season. After dominating all the sessions of the weekend and breaking the track record again in the morning practice by getting a time of 1:53.926, the young Colombian was the rival to beat in the Italian GP qualifying. There, Alonso has gone from lowest to highest and has ridden alone always, without looking for references. The World Championship leader has dedicated his first stint to prepare for tomorrow's race with hard tyres and in the second stint he has used soft tyres to fight for pole position. In his last lap, already on the chequered flag, the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider has managed to set a time of 1:54.194, which is enough for him to start tomorrow from the first position on the grid. Alonso has finished more than two tenths ahead of the second, Iván Ortolá, who has made his time following the Colombian. José Antonio Rueda will complete the front row of the grid, while Alonso's main rival in the World Championship, Dani Holgado, has ended fifth, almost a second off pole.

CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider Joel Esteban will start tomorrow from nineteenth position. The young Spanish, who competes for the first time in Mugello this weekend, has managed to take a step forward compared to yesterday, but it has not been enough to enter in Q2. Esteban has had to compete in Q1 and, for the first time since the Qatar GP, he has not made it to Q2. As a consequence, tomorrow he will fight to come back from the seventh row of the grid.

1st David Alonso 1:54.194: “I am happy, although pole position was not our main objective. Today we have been able to set up the bike to get a great time attack, but we have also worked on race pace. Even in qualifying we have tested a detail for the race. Now we have to reflect on everything we have worked on to prepare for tomorrow's race.”

19th Joel Esteban 1:56.856: “It has been a day in which I have been improving little by little. In the last practice session, I have taken a big step forward, but we had a lot of work to do because yesterday I did not get a good result. In Q1 the sensations have been positive and I have been very close to entering in Q2. Tomorrow we will fight to come back.”
