The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider has finished with the seventh fastest time
The Moto3 World Championship got underway at Lusail with the Qatar Grand Prix. Daniel Holgado has been the fastest on the first day with a time of 2:03.606, with Adrián Fernández second and Matteo Bertelle, third. David Alonso has finished the day with the seventh fastest time, just three tenths of a second off Holgado. Alonso had a strong start and in the first free practice, in which he had a crash without consequences, he set the third fastest time. In the afternoon, the second session has been conditioned by a red flag due to technical problems on the circuit and the appearance of rain in the last minutes.
For Joel Esteban, his first contact with the World Championship has been very positive. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider finished with the ninth fastest time in the first free practice, while in the afternoon he could only finish twenty-second. Esteban's adaptation on his first day in Moto3 has been very satisfactory, he has completed good laps on a circuit he didn't know and is confident of making a step forward tomorrow.
7th David Alonso 2:03.990 (+0.384): " The Qatar circuit is a track I struggled with last year and today we have improved. But I don't feel comfortable on the bike and we have worked a lot on it, especially on the front. The lap times weren't bad, but we can go a step further tomorrow".
22nd Joel Esteban 2:06.254 (+2.648): "It has been a very positive day. It was a track I didn't know and we have been already at the front in the first session. I have a good feeling and I have got a good set-up on the bike. In the second session, with the red flag, I couldn't finish a fast lap, although I have a good feeling. I'm happy".
