David Alonso and the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar end a record-breaking year

Aspar Team Junior rider Marcos Uriarte will replace injured Joel Esteban in the final race of the championship

Moto3 is ready to put an end to its 2024 season, but it will not do so in its usual place. After the heavy rains and flash floods that hit hard Valencia two weeks ago, the serious situation in the region has not allowed the Circuit Ricardo Tormo to hold the last race of the season. The Circuit de Barcelona - Catalunya will be in charge of putting the finishing touch and will do so with a special GP that will allocate its benefits to those affected by the catastrophe in Valencia.

The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team and David Alonso are ready to close a record-breaking season in the best way. The world champion wants to continue making history before saying goodbye to Moto3 and this weekend he will fight to achieve his fourteenth victory of the season, what would be the seventh win in a row. The young Colombian has only won when he’s raced in Moto3 in Barcelona. On his first visit as a world championship rider, he surprised everyone on the last lap with a great manoeuvre that allowed him to achieve his second victory in the lightweight category. Six months ago, in the Catalan GP, Alonso shone again in the last laps to secure the win, a victory with which he regained the lead in the World Championship, a lead he would never let go after that. Now, the situation is very different. The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider arrives without pressure, but with the hope and motivation of saying goodbye to the lightweight category on the top step of the podium before making the jump to Moto2.

His regular teammate Joel Esteban will not be able to compete in the last GP of the season. The young rider crashed in the Malaysian GP race and suffered an injury in the scaphoid in his left hand that prevents him from finishing his debut year in Moto3 on track. His substitute will be Marcos Uriarte, who will make his in the Moto3 World Championship debut with the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team. Uriarte competes with the Aspar Team Junior in the JuniorGP, a championship in which he has achieved four podiums so far this season and in which he occupies sixth place in the standings. Now, Uriarte has ahead of him a really special challenge that he faces with great motivation and with the aim of learning with each outing on track.

David Alonso: “The last race of the year is going to be very special and very emotional for several reasons. We will be racing for Valencia and all the money raised will go to help the people affected. In addition, it is going to be my last race in Moto3. This weekend I simply want to enjoy my last kilometres on the Moto3. I want to finish on Sunday and know that I have given my best with the bike that has led me to achieve my dream of being world champion. The result will not matter, I just want to enjoy this last dance.”

Marcos Uriarte: “I would like to wish Joel a great recovery and thank the team for this great opportunity. I am very happy to be able to make my debut in the World Championship with the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team. I am going to enjoy the weekend to the fullest. I want to focus on my riding, improve with each outing on track and learn from Alonso.”
