ARGENTINA GP

David Alonso, among the fastest riders in Argentina

The Colombian rider set the eighth fastest time of the day on a new circuit for him. Ryusei Yamanaka finished in 27th position

The Grand Prix of Argentina has started with the first two practice sessions for the Moto3 riders. Ayumu Sasaki has been the fastest rider in both sessions of a day in which the riders of the small category could ride in dry conditions, except in the final part of the morning session. The only other two riders who have ridden under 1:49 and have completed the top three have been Diogo Moreira and Jaume Masiá, who already took a victory on this track in 2019.

Autosolar GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso has finished the first day of the Argentina Grand Prix among the fastest riders. The Colombian rider has gone from strength to strength after finishing seventeenth in the morning and setting the eighth fastest time in the afternoon. Alonso has completed his first laps in an unknown track for him with good sensations and he will try to continue with his adaptation to get a good grid position. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka has set his best time in the morning and couldn't improve his time in the second session of the day. The Japanese rider will have one last chance tomorrow, in the third practice session of the Argentina Grand Prix, to improve his time and avoid going through Q1.

8th David Alonso 1:49.521 (+0.924): "I'm happy with the first day at this circuit, which is new for me. It is very different to the ones in Spain and Europe, the track is very wide and the corners are very long. In the first practice we tried to adapt to the track and in the afternoon we could push hard. I'm happy with eighth place today, we'll keep working on the details and we'll enjoy it as much as possible.”

27th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:51.409 (+2.816): "Today was a strange day. I didn't have a good feeling from the start and I don't know why.  I didn't feel comfortable on the bike and therefore I couldn't set a good time. We'll have to check what happened and come back stronger tomorrow.”
