Comeback and top 5 for Yamanaka

David Alonso finishes eighth in the French Grand Prix after moving up seventeen positions

In the 1,000th Grand Prix in history, Daniel Holgado has taken the 100th victory for Spain in Moto3. Holgado has set a strong pace from the start and has crossed the finish line in first position. Ayumu Sasaki, who has started from pole position, and Jaume Masià, who has finished on the podium for the second year in a row at Le Mans, have fought alongside Holgado for the victory, but the World Championship leader has ended up taking the 25 points and has increased his lead over Moreira, who has not been able to finish the race, and Ortolá, who has finished fourth, less than a tenth of a second off the podium.

The Gaviota GASGAS Aspar has concluded the French Grand Prix on a high after an excellent race by Ryusei Yamanaka and David Alonso. The Japanese rider, who has been the fastest for two consecutive laps, has been fighting all the race with the front group. However, with only a few laps to go, he has been fighting to get into the top 5 against Oncü and Artigas. The Japanese rider, who was seventh, has been able to overtake them and has equaled his best result in the category. Yamanaka leaves Le Mans satisfied with eleven more points in the standings and with the feeling that his first podium is getting closer and closer. David Alonso has completed another comeback, this time starting from 25th place. The young Colombian, who has already gained twelve positions on the second lap, has continued his comeback to finish eighth. With this result, Alonso remains the best rookie in the category, ahead of José Antonio Rueda who has crossed the finish line behind him.

5th Ryusei Yamanaka (+2.409): “A fast race, and the pace was fast. Two riders crashed in front of me at one point and I was lucky to avoid them. I was too slow in one corner of the track and very strong through another so it was hard to manage the race speed. I found it hard to overtake on the last five laps because people were braking so hard. I need to improve with these aspects. Anyway, I’m happy with the top five and my best result so far. We’ll keep working like this.”

8th David Alonso (+9.372): “I knew last night that I had to give everything to be as far forward as I could. A decent start was key to this and I think it was the best one of my life! I passed a lot of riders. I kept passing and got near the front group. My rhythm was good but then I got to a point where I couldn’t go any further forwards in terms of positions. It was encouraging that I could set my own speed and I’m very happy about that.”
