CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team will occupy the second row in Austria

Dennis Foggia has achieved his best qualifying result this season and will start the race in fourth position, while Máximo Quiles will accompany him in the second row, in fifth place

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team has once again fought for the front row of the grid at the Austrian Grand Prix. Dennis Foggia achieved his best result on a Saturday with the team and will start fourth thanks to a great final lap. Máximo Quiles, meanwhile, was fifth after his best time was cancelled when he was in contention for pole position. Both riders were one tenth behind the fastest, which on this occasion was Valentín Perrone. The Argentinean achieved his first pole position in Moto3, ahead of Ángel Piqueras, second by 46 thousandths. Ryusei Yamanaka will complete the front row, while leader José Antonio Rueda will start in eighth.

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team riders fine-tuned their set-up in this morning's free practice to prepare for the Austrian Grand Prix race. Máximo Quiles and Dennis Foggia improved on their times from Friday and showed that this weekend they are two of the riders to be considered in the fight for the top positions. In addition, the Spaniard set the fastest time of the morning, 1:39.639, and established a new record for the Austrian circuit. In the afternoon, both riders competed in Q2, ready to fight for the front row of the grid. Dennis Foggia had his best qualifying session of the season. The Italian went from strength to strength, fully focused on the top three in the standings. Foggia pushed himself to the limit in Q2 and was able to complete a great final lap, which allowed him to take fourth place. His time of 1:40.090 was just one tenth of a second slower than pole position and he missed out on the front row by just six thousandths of a second. His teammate Máximo Quiles remained among the fastest from the first lap and showed great pace to get a good lap time as soon as possible. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider fought for pole position until the very last moments, but unfortunately, his best time was cancelled on the last lap for exceeding the track limits while he was fighting for his second pole position of the season. In the end, his 1:40.117 put him in fifth position, although only one tenth of a second behind the leader.

4th Dennis Foggia 1:40.090 (+0.152): “Today I could have fought for the front row of the grid. I'm happy with the result because I felt very comfortable from the start of the weekend. We're working well and we're competitive, which is reflected in the results. Tomorrow we'll try to have a good race and be in the front group.”

5th Máximo Quiles 1:40.117 (+0.179): “I'm a little angry for having exceeded the track limit on the last lap. No rider wanted to lead the group, so I decided to push on my own. I know I have the pace and speed, and I've proven it. I would have liked to be on the front row, but this result is good and the work is done. Tomorrow we can show where we are and have a good race.”
