Máximo Quiles and Dennis Foggia face the second half of this double-header with clear ideas to continue fighting for the top spot
The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team is fully focused on the new challenge of the season, the San Marino GP, which will be an important event for Máximo Quiles and Dennis Foggia before taking on the flyaways. Last weekend, they were unable to end the race in Barcelona as expected, with Quiles finishing twelfth despite having been fighting for the win, and Foggia just outside the points. The Spanish rider has competed at Misano in both the Rookies Cup, a competition in which he finished on the podium twice, and the JuniorGP, and is highly motivated to fight once again for the front positions to increase his advantage in the ‘rookie of the year’ standings. Dennis Foggia, on the other hand, will be competing at his home GP and is looking to put in a good performance in front of the home crowd. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider won the last three races he contested at Misano while competing in Moto3 and is convinced that the result in Barcelona was just a blip after the good feeling he has had in recent races.
Moto3 leader José Antonio Rueda returned to the podium at the last Grand Prix, earning him important points to maintain the gap on his closest rival, Ángel Piqueras. The latter won in Barcelona and was able to close the gap by five points, although, with 175 points to go, he is still 64 points off his compatriot. CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider Máximo Quiles remains in the top three, 102 points behind the leader. Behind him, David Muñoz has managed to close the gap in the fight for third place and is now only five points behind Quiles, while Álvaro Carpe is fifth and has a disadvantage of 19 points with Quiles in the fight to be the Moto3 rookie of the year.
Máximo Quiles: “The race in Barcelona didn't go as I expected, but we're doing a good job with the team. We could have been fighting for the win, and that bodes well for this weekend. We're still in the top three in the standings, and the goal is to stay there and fight for the podium once again.”
Dennis Foggia: “I'm arriving at my home Grand Prix, where I’ve won the last three times I’ve raced there in Moto3. I'm really looking forward to getting back to work and being competitive again after a tough weekend in Barcelona.”
