Dennis Foggia to start the Argentina Grand Prix from the fourth row of the grid
Saturday qualifying came to an end at Termas de Río Hondo. The Moto3 riders continue to face constantly changing track conditions, making it difficult to plan the strategy for the weekend. Italian Matteo Bertelle took pole position and the overall track record. Tomorrow he will be joined on the front row by Ángel Piqueras and Ryusei Yamanaka. CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider Dennis Foggia yesterday secured his direct pass to Q2, guaranteeing himself a place on the fight for the front positions on the starting grid. The Italian continued to improve on his times from the weekend and was able to adapt quickly to the changing track conditions. In this afternoon's qualifying session Foggia went from strength to strength and set his best time on the penultimate lap: a 1:46.973 which will see him start tomorrow's race in eleventh position.
On the other side of the garage, Jakob Rosenthaler went into Saturday ready to improve his feeling ahead of qualifying. The Austrian rider faced the second free practice of the weekend with a good start, although a heavy crash prevented him from completing his work plan. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider went out for the first qualifying session focused on setting the best possible time, although the light rain at the start made it difficult to ride. Rosenthaler was eleventh in Q1 and will start in twenty-fourth position tomorrow.
11th Dennis Foggia 1:46.973: “We continue to improve session by session, improving 7 or 8 tenths each time, although we are still not 100% with the bike. Tomorrow we start from eleventh, the race will be a bunch race and tyre choice will be important. We'll try to make a good start to be at the front. Gas!”
24th Jakob Rosenthaler 1:49.579: “The morning started quite well. I was able to improve yesterday's time on used tyres and I felt strong. I tried to improve lap by lap and went much faster. This morning I had a big crash in turn 11 when I went off to the dirty area and that was the end of the session for us. In qualifying the conditions were very different again, they change every session this weekend. We were worried about the rain, the track was quite wet but I could still ride. I couldn't do a good lap because it was sliding a lot, so tomorrow we will concentrate on having the best race possible.”
