Bitter Saturday for the Gaviota GASGAS Aspar

Ryusei Yamanaka will start from 19th place after narrowly missing out on Q2. David Alonso has not been able to set a lap time and will start from the back of the grid

Jaume Masià has shown again that he is in a great shape. The Spanish rider has achieved his second pole position of the season at Silverstone after the one he took at the Dutch Grand Prix. Masià, who already dominated yesterday's dry practice sessions, has been the fastest in a wet qualifying. Although Ayumu Sasaki, Tatsuki Suzuki and Scott Ogden have improved his time on the last lap, the presence of a yellow flag on track has invalidated their laps. Despite this, the British rider has set the second fastest time of the session and will start from the front row for the first time this season. Dani Holgado, who has suffered a heavy crash at the end of the session, will start from third place.

After a final practice session in wet conditions in which anyone has been able to improve yesterday's lap times, the Gaviota GASGAS Aspar riders have disputed the Q1 without rain, but with a wet track. Ryusei Yamanaka has been in the top four positions that give access to Q2 for most of the session. However, a yellow flag on his last lap has truncated the Japanese rider's aspirations, who was improving his time. In the end, Yamanaka has finished two tenths of a second off going into Q2 and will start the Silverstone race from 19th position. His teammate David Alonso has suffered an incident when he was completing his first run and has not been able to set a lap time. The Colombian has not been able to return to the track and will start the British Grand Prix from the back of the grid.

19th Ryusei Yamanaka 2:27.019: “I have had good feelings in the wet. I have been improving my time every lap. I have got a good lap time, but it has been cancelled due to the yellow flag. I haven't been able to make it through to Q2, but the pace in the rain has been good. It looks like tomorrow's race will be in the dry, so we'll concentrate on having a good race.”

28th David Alonso: “I haven't been able to complete any lap in the qualifying. I have crashed on the first lap when I wasn't pushing hard. I don't really understand what has happened. I have not been able to get back on track and tomorrow we'll see what we can do in the race.”
