Autosolar GASGAS Aspar Team begins a new era in Moto3

The Spanish team, current Moto3 riders’, teams’ and manufacturers’ champion, will compete with Ryusei Yamanaka and David Alonso in 2023

The Moto3 World Championship starts this weekend at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimao (Portugal). After a 2022 in which Autosolar GASGAS Aspar Team achieved the triple crown, having won the riders’, teams’ and manufacturers’ world championship titles thanks to Izan Guevara and teammate Sergio García, the new season starts without a clear favourite. On the one hand, experienced riders like Ayumu Sasaki, Deniz Öncü, Jaume Masiá and Romano Fenati, together with sophomores such as David Muñoz, Diogo Moreira and Dani Holgado, are the possible candidates for the title after the 2022 dominant riders have made the leap to Moto2. On the other hand, some young talents like José Antonio Rueda, Filippo Farioli and Collin Veijer will make their debut on the grid with the ambition to prove that they have what it takes to be World Championship riders.

Autosolar GASGAS Aspar Team opens a new season in the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve with two new faces. Ryusei Yamanaka will start his fourth season in the small category and, after having finished the pre-season tests with positive feelings, he is ready to fight with the fastest riders. The Japanese comes into this new season with a fifth place in the 2022 Italian Grand Prix as his best result in the category and will be looking to grow and fight for higher goals with the help of the Autosolar GASGAS Aspar Team. On the other hand, teammate David Alonso faces the leap to the World Championship after becoming the most successful rider in the history of the Aspar Team Junior. After five seasons growing alongside the team's young riders, the Colombian arrives to Moto3 after winning a Spanish Championship title, the European Talent Cup and the 2021 Red Bull Rookies Cup. During the five days of preseason before the first Grand Prix, the Colombian rider has completed 257 laps of testing, which means he will be ready for the first race of the season.

Ryusei Yamanaka: "My goal for this year is to get a podium as soon as possible. It's still early to think about fighting for the championship, so we will take it race by race. I still have to find a good set-up for this bike and adapt to the new team, but the feelings have been good in all the pre-season sessions. We will have to be concentrated day by day and try to enjoy with the Autosolar GASGAS Aspar Team.”

David Alonso: "After the pre-season tests in which we improved day by day, we face the start of the season in the best way. At the beginning it might be difficult to fight with the front group, but we have made a great preparation, we know we are competitive and we will try to have a good first race. From there, we will try to keep growing and to fight for podiums at the end of the season.”
