GERMAN GP

Alonso wins and goes to the summer break with a 58-point advantage

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider has achieved his sixth victory of the season in Germany

CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider David Alonso has returned to the top of the podium in the German GP. The Colombian has achieved his sixth victory of the year and has an even bigger advantage in the standings. Alonso has started from second position and on the third lap he has taken the lead after overtaking David Muñoz. From that moment on, the World Championship leader has imposed his pace and only Taiyo Furusato has been able to surpass him at one point in the race. Alonso has returned him the overtake on the same lap and has not lost the first position until the end. The fight for the other two podium positions has been very contested. In the end, it has been Furusato who has finished second and Iván Ortolá, who has had to complete a penalty, third. All this in a race in which one of the main favourites, Collin Veijier, who has started from pole, has crashed on the second lap. Veijer has been able to return to the track and has ended eighteenth. With his victory in Sachsenring, Alonso has extended his lead in the World Championship and has 58 points over Ortolá, who has overtaken Holgado and Veijer. While the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider goes on holidays with a comfortable lead, behind him the standings are very tight: only six points separate Ortolá, Holgado and Veijer.

CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider Joel Esteban has completed a great comeback in Sachsenring. The rookie has started from the pit lane due to a penalty and has been able to gradually recover positions until crossing the finish line in fourteenth place. Esteban has had a great pace in the German track and has been able to score two points in the last race before the summer break. Now, Moto3 has three weeks of rest ahead of it before returning to action in the British GP.

VICTORY David Alonso: “I was very calm in the first laps. When I have seen that Veijer had crashed, I knew it was the day to risk a little more to score as many points as possible. David Muñoz, who was first, did not want to push and I have overtaken him to impose my pace. I have focused on myself and on managing the race well, because it has been very long. In the team we all work together and when we have to push it is really good.”

14th Joel Esteban (+25.069): “I am happy with today's race. I have scored two points after starting from the pit lane. I am very satisfied with the pace I have had throughout the race because, although I have lost time by overtaking some riders, we have managed to ride at a similar pace to the front riders. Now we have a few weeks of holidays to prepare Silverstone well and be able to give my best.”
