The Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider arrives at the last round of the season third in the overall standings, 18 points off second place
The Moto3 World Championship comes to the end of the season in Valencia with almost everything decided. Jaume Masià was crowned World Champion at the Qatar Grand Prix, David Alonso became rookie of the year in Thailand, and the constructors' title is also decided. Only the teams' title and the name of the riders that complete the top 3 in the overall standings remain open. In this battle is Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso, who is third in the standings. The Colombian is 18 points off Ayumu Sasaki, but he also has an advantage of 13 points over Dani Holgado and Deniz Öncü. Alonso will become runner-up if he wins or finishes second in the Valencia GP and Ayumu Sasaki does not score points, a difficult but not impossible combination. On the other hand, the Colombian could concede up to twelve points to Holgado and Öncü to finish his first year in the World Championship in third position.
Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider Ryusei Yamanaka faces his last race with the team with the ambition of achieving his first podium in the category. The Japanese has a fifth-place finish as his best result this year and he will be looking to improve that position in Valencia. Yamanaka arrives to one of his favourite tracks and will try to close the season with a positive feeling.
David Alonso: “In Valencia I will try to enjoy every minute on track to close the season in the best possible way. I can still finish second in the overall standings, but also outside the top 3. We will keep pushing to give a joy to the fans.”
Ryusei Yamanaka: “The Valencian track is one of my favourites. I know I can ride fast there and we will give our best from the beginning. Working on the pace from the first practice will be important to arrive to the race with a good feeling. We will try to end the season on a good note.”
