Alonso to try and fight for a good result before the summer break

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider will fight to return to winning ways in Germany and extend his lead for one more grand prix

The German GP is the last round of the Moto3 World Championship before the summer break and CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider David Alonso arrives with the aim of getting back to the top of the podium to go on holidays as a leader. The Dutch GP was not an easy weekend for Alonso, although he achieved a very valuable fifth position for the championship, and, with barely time to rest, the young Colombian travels to Sachsenring pretty motivated. Alonso will work to pick up the pace from the first practice session on a track where, in his only World Championship participation, he finished fifth after coming back from fourteenth position. Now, Alonso starts the weekend as the rival to beat in the lightweight category after achieving five wins out of eight, which allows him to lead the World Championship with a 39-points advantage. However, behind the Colombian, the standings have tightened. Collin Veijer, who has finished five consecutive races in the top 4, has overtaken Dani Holgado and leads him by four points, while Iván Ortolá has also closed the gap with his victory in Assen and is only ten points off Veijer.

CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider Joel Esteban arrives in Germany wanting to get a good result and get back into the top ten after two difficult weekends. To achieve this, Esteban sets himself the challenge of being strong from the start and being able to go fast alone to complete a qualifying session without incidents, which will be key for the race. Sachsenring is a new track for the young Spanish rider, but Esteban hopes to quickly adapt to the characteristics of the German track and be able to fight to be the best rookie in the race.

David Alonso: “Germany is another opportunity to pick up the pace and solve the problems we had in Assen. We have to start from scratch and work throughout the weekend to be as competitive as possible on Sunday.”

Joel Esteban: “In Germany I will follow the same working method as in Assen, riding alone from the beginning. Having a good Friday will be important to avoid having to look for any reference on Saturday and thus avoid a penalty. I really want to compete at Sachsenring because it is a karting-style track, with strong braking points and long corners. I think I can be good at it.”
