The GASGAS Aspar Team rider will begin from twelfth place. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka will do so from 24th
Dani Holgado has taken in Qatar his first pole position of the year. In his World Championship career, the Spanish rider had only started from the front of the grid at the Austrian Grand Prix in 2022, and today, after setting a time of 2:04.742, he has once again won the privilege of beginning a race from pole position. Diogo Moreira has finished just three thousandths off Holgados’ time, while Deniz Öncü, who completes the front row, has ended more than a tenth off. Just behind the Turkish rider will start Ayumu Sasaki, who will try to take advantage of Jaume Masià's tenth position on the grid to prevent the Spanish from becoming World Champion in Qatar. Both riders will have to be careful in the beginning of the race, as a mistake or a crash could be crucial for the outcome of the championship. They will have to manage their ambition to finish the race and reach the final round of the season in Valencia with the biggest possible advantage.
GASGAS Aspar Team rider David Alonso will start the Qatar Grand Prix from the fourth row. The Colombian had started the day on a high, closing the combined timesheets in second position. In qualifying and under the lights of the Losail track, the Colombian has ridden alone, but he has not been able to show the speed that he had demonstrated in the morning and will have to start from twelfth place. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka will begin from 24th. The Japanese rider has not made it directly into Q2 despite improving his time from yesterday in the last practice session by almost two seconds and will have to come back from the eighth row. Yamanaka and his technical team will try to improve the set-up of the bike to be able to complete a good race and fight for the points.
12th David Alonso 2:06.141: “We have made it through Q2 with the second fastest lap in the combined timesheets, but in qualifying I have ridden on my own and I couldn't go further than twelfth place. I have to improve on some lines and tomorrow I will try to study other riders to do it.”
24th Ryusei Yamanaka 2:07.386: “Qualifying has been difficult because I have had a lot of chattering and the strategy has not worked out. I have ended up riding alone and we have not been able to set a good time to get into Q2.”
