The Colombian equals his best grid position of the season and will start the San Marino Grand Prix from sixth place
Jaume Masià has taken his third pole position of the year at the San Marino Grand Prix. The Spanish rider had already been the fastest in yesterday's practice sessions and today has shown again all his potential. Masià, who finished on the podium in Barcelona, will try to get another good result in tomorrow's race in order to get closer to the leader of the category, Dani Holgado, who is not having an easy weekend in Misano and will start from eighth position. Ayumu Sasaki, who has been able to recover from the crash that has suffered at the beginning of qualifying, and Kaito Koba, who returns to the front row of the grid after three years, complete the top 3.
Gaviota GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso will start the San Marino Grand Prix in sixth place. The Colombian has been strong throughout all the sessions and has qualified to Q2 with the third fastest time in the combined timesheets. Alonso has gone out on track ready to get a good grid position and he has achieved it. The 17-year-old has done a great lap riding on his own and will fight for the win from the second row. His teammate, Ryusei Yamanaka, has completed a positive day at Misano and will began tomorrow's race from fifteenth place. The Japanese rider has started the day improving his yesterday's lap time by one second and a half and has secured a direct access to Q2. Yamanaka has not been able to set a great time in qualifying, but he has ended the session satisfied because he has found a better feeling with the bike.
6th David Alonso 1:42.058 (+0.420): “I'm very happy with today's qualifying because I set my time riding on my own. In the last practice session we have worked again on our pace and we have arrived very well prepared for Q2. I have concentrated on doing my best and I have managed to get a sixth position. We are ready for tomorrow.”
15th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:42.657 (+1.019): “Tomorrow we will start from fifteenth position, but I'm happy because the feeling is getting better. In my first run I have not been able to set a good time because I have made some mistakes and I was in a difficult group. Tomorrow we will try our best.”
