VALENCIA GP

Alonso to close the season from second row

The Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider will defend his third place in the standings from fifth on the grid

Collin Veijer has taken the last pole position of the season. The Dutchman will start the Valencia GP from the front of the grid after finishing a very close qualifying session as the fastest rider. The front row has been decided by just a few thousandths. Veijer has stopped the clock with a time of 1:38.111, just 0.048 and 0.052 faster than the laps of Sasaki and Öncü. The Japanese rider will try to end the season as the Moto3 runner-up, while the Turkish will fight for third place against David Alonso and Dani Holgado.

Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso will close the season from the second row of the grid with the aim of remaining third in the standings. The Colombian will start with Öncü ahead of him, but with Dani Holgado further back, as the Spanish will begin from eighteenth position after crashing in qualifying. Alonso has been able to recover from yesterday's crashes and has returned to the good feelings he had during the first practice session. The Colombian has worked on his own today and tomorrow he will try to set his pace in order to achieve his goal. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka will start the last race of the year from tenth place. The Japanese rider has been strong during all the sessions of the weekend and today he has had the pace to fight for a good result in tomorrow's race. Yamanaka will begin from the fourth row and will be looking to end the year on a high note.

5th David Alonso 1:38.703 (+0.392): “After yesterday's two crashes, it was important to find a good feeling again. In the morning I have done a great lap, but I have exceeded the track limits and I have had to go through Q1. I have been able to access to Q2 and I have taken a good grid position riding on my own. I'm ready for tomorrow and we'll go for it.”

10th Ryusei Yamanaka 1:39.014 (+0.703): “I'm not happy with my grid position, I had the potential to get a better one, but I have crashed when another rider has tried to overtake me. I couldn't feel comfortable, but I have the pace to finish the season in the best possible way.”
