PORTIMAO TEST

Alonso repeats in the front positions in Portimao

The young Autosolar GASGAS Aspar Team rider led the last session of the day, in which he finally finished sixth, two tenths off third position

Brazilian Diogo Moreira has been the fastest rider in the two sessions that all the riders in the intermediate category have been able to complete. The rain that fell during the morning has made the first session of the day useless, but from midday onwards, the Moto3 riders have been able to continue the tests that began yesterday at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. In those two remaining sessions, Moreira was the fastest, almost matching his time between the two sessions, and improving yesterday’s Jaume Masiá's lap time by less than a tenth. David Muñoz and Dani Holgado complete the leading trio on this penultimate day of testing in Portimao.

The penultimate day of pre-season testing saw the Autosolar GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso lead the third session of the day for a few moments. The Colombian rider is being one of the strongest among the rookie riders in the Moto3 category and today he was once again just eight tenths off the best time of the day. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka finished the day half a second behind Alonso's best time, but with a good feeling after having been able to overcome the complications he found yesterday on the bike. The Japanese rider maintains the differences with respect to the fastest riders in Portimao and aspires to get closer to them tomorrow, on the last day of tests for the small category.

David Alonso (1:49.232, 40 laps): “We have already completed the second day in Portimao and we continue to insist on our work plan, always finding new things. We have continued working like yesterday, adding a few more things, and little by little we are getting closer. We have to look at where we can take that further step to arrive at the race in the best situation.”

Ryusei Yamanaka (1:49.702, 40 laps): “If we look at the times, it hasn't been a great day, but I feel much more positive than yesterday because the sensations are good and I'm gaining a lot of confidence on the bike. We have solved some complications that we had yesterday, and although we did not get a good fast lap, I know that it will come. We will continue working tomorrow."
