The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider has added another victory and his teammate, Joel Esteban, has finished fourth
CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider David Alonso has taken his third victory of the season at the French Grand Prix after an incredible end of the race. Alonso has started from pole position, but he has been overtaken by several riders in the first laps. The young Colombian has been able to keep calm in a race that has seen a very large group and he has waited until the last laps to show his cards. With three laps to go, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider has made a double overtaking on Dani Holgado and Collin Veijer to take the lead. Holgado has returned him the overtake, but on the last lap Alonso has recovered the race lead to take his third win of the season. Holgado, who has led for most of the race, has finished second and Veijer has been third. With this victory, Alonso closes the gap to Holgado in the standings and is only one point behind the World Championship leader. Moreover, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team is the new leader of the teams' classification.
CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider Joel Esteban has shone in the French Grand Prix race and has achieved the best result of his career in Moto3. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider has comeback from sixteenth to fourth position. The Spaniard has shown a great pace throughout the race that has allowed him to reach the front positions and has finished just over two tenths off the podium. Esteban has been the best rookie at Le Mans and is eighth in the standings.
VICTORY David Alonso: "I had the crash in Jerez on my mind and I have preferred to keep calm in the first laps. I did not want to be in front and this way I have been able to learn from my rivals. I have approached the race in a calmer way and with three laps to go I wanted to push, but we have had a nice battle with Holgado. We have fought until the end and it knew that, on this circuit, I had to lead the last lap."
4th Joel Esteban (+0.476): "I am very happy. It has been a fast race, especially at the end with used tyres. At the beginning I have conserved the tyres a bit because I thought I would need them at the end and it has worked quite well because I have been able to go forward. With two laps to go I have made a mistake when I was sixth, but I have been able to push again and I have tried to fight for the podium. In Barcelona, more and better."
