The Colombian rider has fought throughout the race with the best riders in the championship and has finished fourth. Ryusei Yamanaka has closed the Italian Grand Prix in points positions

Mugello has hosted a thrilling Moto3 race which has ended with the victory of the World Championship leader, Daniel Holgado. The Spanish rider has taken his third win of the season, the second in a row, after fighting for the victory with Deniz Oncü, Ayumu Sasaki, David Alonso and Jaume Masià, who have formed the front group. The podium positions have been changing during the whole race, especially on the straight, where the slipstreaming has played a key role. Finally, Holgado has crossed the finish line in first position, with Deniz Oncü and Ayumu Sasaki closing the podium less than a tenth of a second behind. On the other hand, the riders who have started from the back of the grid, Diogo Moreira and Iván Ortolá, have saved the day by finishing seventh and eleventh.

Valresa GASGAS Aspar has closed the Italian Grand Prix with David Alonso achieving his second best result in the World Championship. The young rider has finished fourth, just one tenth of a second away from victory. Alonso has started the race with a very high pace and soon has gained positions until he has reached the front group. The Colombian has battled throughout the race to get on the podium. However, he has crossed the finish line in fourth position. With this result, the Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider is seventh in the overall standings. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka has scored points again in Mugello. The Japanese rider has started the race in the third group, but he has not been conformed and has pushed up to seventh position, leading the chasing group momentarily. However, faster riders like Moreira and Ortolá have relegated him to fifteenth place, closing the points positions.

4th David Alonso (+0.172): “I am very happy…and also pretty tired! It was a hard race and a fast one. I know I need to keep working but we achieved our goal today which was a good start and to be part of the lead group. From there I just tried to learn because I was with the four fastest riders of the class, more-or-less, and I was looking for strong points and weak points. I did not want to finish last in that group! We still need to work on a few details but we’re getting there!”

15th Ryusei Yamanaka (+15.744): “The race was so hard. In the beginning it was difficult to stay in the first group because I was suffering with some chatter. I could not ride like I want. I was trying to manage it…but I lost the leaders and then it was a difficult fight with the slipstream. On the last lap I lost a few places in my group and it was not the best way to finish this GP. We have to keep working to improve our position.”
