Alonso finishes fourth, but increases his lead

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar rider has scored 13 valuable points at MotorLand and now has a 75-point lead

The Aragon GP has ended with a bittersweet taste for CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider David Alonso. The Colombian, who has started from pole and had led all the weekend sessions, has only managed to finish fourth, although he has extended his lead four more points. In the first laps, Alonso has set a very strong pace that his rivals have not been able to keep up with. In fact, in the first lap, Alonso has crossed the finish line in first position with a second and a half of advantage over his pursuers. The World Championship leader has had more than two seconds of margin, while behind him the battle for the other two podium places was very open. When Collin Veijer has moved into the second place, he has managed to separate from the group to try to catch the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider up. Veijer has managed to close the gap with Alonso, who has been struggling with his tyres in the final laps, and with six laps to go he has overtaken him. After Veijer, José Antonio Rueda and Luca Lunetta have also arrived. Alonso has given his all to try to stay on the podium, but has ended fourth. Rueda has shone at the end of the race and has overtaken Veijer to take his first world championship win ahead of the Dutch and Lunetta. With his fourth position, Alonso is now more leader in the World Championship, having extended his advantage to 75 points. After the race at MotorLand, Veijer has moved up to second place in the standings. Iván Ortolá, who has finished twelfth, is third, 80 points off and Dani Holgado, who has been ninth, is fourth, 81 off.

CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider Joel Esteban has finished the Aragon GP in fifteenth position. The rookie has started from thirteenth place, but in the first laps he did not feel comfortable on the bike and has dropped until twenty first position. As the race has gone by, Esteban has been able to recover his good feeling and has taken a step forward. Little by little he has been climbing possitions until he has crossed the finish line in fifteenth place. Now, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider already has his mind set on the San Marino GP, which will be held next week.

4th David Alonso (+4.942): "I have wasted the tyre really early, but the positive thing is that I have been able to break the race and I have finished fourth and not twelfth, for example. I have gone out and I have not been pushing as hard as I could, but I was going light. At one point I have changed my mentality, from thinking about winning to thinking about scoring points, because it was easy to make a mistake today. I was two seconds ahead, but I was aware that if I continued like this I would run out of tyres and I have slowed down to try to fight with those behind me when they caught me up. I thought I would not be able to finish the race, I have tried to be as smooth as possible. Now I have to think about Misano, but we are going there with a good result."

15th Joel Esteban (+23.594): "I am not happy with today's race. It was not easy at all, especially at the beginning, because I have not had a good feeling. I was going backwards, but little by little, when I have got my good feeling back, I have been able to recover positions and score a point."
