The Colombian rider lowers yesterday's time by one second, laps 1.6 seconds faster than the official track record, and leaves his rivals more than three tenths behind
The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar rider David Alonso continues to be the reference in the last Moto3 preseason tests. Alonso was the fastest in the second session of the day, lowering the official track record by 1.6 seconds, which allowed him to once again lead the Moto3 combined standings, with three tenths over José Antonio Rueda and half a second over Collin Veijer. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar rider took advantage of today's last session to complete a race simulation, with a satisfactory result for the team, and tomorrow he will continue working to be ready for the first GP of the season.
His teammate Joel Esteban continues working on the CFMOTO before its official debut in the World Championship, which will arrive next week, and has finished his second day of testing in Jerez with a best time of 1:45.448 after adding 67 more laps to the 68 that he already did yesterday. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar rider, although he ends the day in nineteenth position, 2.1 seconds behind the leader, has improved his time and feelings from the first day and aims to keep improving before the last day of testing.
1st David Alonso 1:43.315 (63 laps): “We are doing a good job, focused on ourselves. We are getting more and more out of the new tyres, understanding them better, and in the time attack we are very competitive. Where we are trying to improve the most is with used tyres, because we have to learn how to manage them well in terms of pace. Today, the most important thing is that after having fought for a good time, we have done a real race simulation, with 19 laps, and it has helped us extract a lot of information for the race."
19th Joel Esteban 1:45.448 (+2,133, 67 laps): “We are taking steps forward, which are not reflected in the standings because the riders in front are lowering their times much more, but we are happy with the progress we are making. In the afternoon we almost completed a full race simulation and I set a competitive and constant pace.”
