BRITISH GP

Unlucky Sunday for the Tensite GASGAS Aspar

Izan Guevara finishes 21st in the British Grand Prix, a race that Jake Dixon has not been able to finish

Fermín Aldeguer has achieved at Silverstone the first victory of his Moto2 career after an exhibition of bravery and poise. The British Grand Prix has started with seven riders trying to break the race, with Pedro Acosta, Fermín Aldeguer, Alonso López and Aron Canet fighting for the lead. In the end, it has been Canet who has taken the first place and has opened a gap over his rivals, reaching an advantage of more than a second over his pursuers. Alonso López has crashed out and little by little, Aldeguer and Acosta have closed the gap to Canet. With 8 laps to go, Fermín Aldeguer has started to lead the race and has not let go of the first place until crossing the finish line with a difference of more than two seconds over Canet, who had not been on the podium since the inaugural race in Portugal, and more than three seconds over Acosta. With this result, Acosta moves into first place in the overall standings with an advantage of two points over Tony Arbolino, who has ended the weekend with a tenth place.

Tensite GASGAS Aspar has closed the weekend at Silverstone with a difficult race for its riders. Izan Guevara has not been able to demonstrate the improvement he had shown in practice and qualifying and has finished twenty-first. Guevara has suffered with the set-up of the bike and has been involved in a couple of incidents that have prevented him from fighting for the points. His Tensite GASGAS Aspar teammate, Jake Dixon, has not been able to enjoy his home Grand Prix. The British rider, who was hoping to make a comeback from fifteenth place, has crashed out on the first lap after being touched by Darryn Binder, who has been penalised due to the incident. Despite the DNF, Dixon remains in third place in the standings after his main rival in the Championship, Alonso Lopez, has also crashed out. The next stop for the Moto2 riders will be the Austrian Grand Prix, where Guevara and Dixon will try to recover from a tough weekend in Great Britain.

21st Izan Guevara (+65.750): “It has been a difficult race. We have chosen the same set-up as in the second practice session, which I was comfortable with. However, today I have suffered a lot with the suspension. We have been going well during the weekend, but in the race, we haven't been able to follow the same path. I have had an incident with another rider and he has pushed me off the track. I also have gone out in a corner and I have lost a lot of time. It's important to reset our mindset to be well prepared for Austria.”

Jake Dixon (DNF): “I don't really know what has happened. I was faster than him, he has touched me and I have crashed. These things shouldn't happen because it is detrimental for me in the Championship. Yesterday I made a mistake, but today it has not been my fault. Now I don't have anything to lose and I will try to win every Grand Prix.”
