Third consecutive podium for Alonso and rookie of the year celebration for Holgado

David Alonso finishes in the top three again in Portugal after doing so in Australia and Malaysia, on a day in which Dani Holgado has confirmed himself as the Moto2 rookie of the year

The Portuguese Grand Prix brought great joy to the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team. David Alonso secured his third consecutive podium finish, his fifth of the season, after finishing third behind Diogo Moreira and Collin Veijer. The Brazilian has made his mark and leaves Portimao with a 24-point lead over Manu González, who finished sixth, with 25 points still up for grabs in the final race of the year in Valencia. There, Moreira only needs to score two points, or for his rival not to win the race, to be crowned champion of the intermediate category before moving up to MotoGP. The other CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider, Dani Holgado, crossed the finish line in seventh position, a result that confirmed him as the Rookie of the Year in the intermediate category.

The intermediate category race kicked off a very positive Sunday of racing for the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team. Dani Holgado and David Alonso made a good start to position themselves in the front group in the early laps. The Colombian recovered six positions and remained in third place, determined to prevent the leaders from increasing their advantage. In the final laps, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider was able to increase his pace and reduce the gap from two seconds to seven tenths in just a few laps. In a final lap to remember, Alonso came close to taking second place, but crossed the finish line in third to claim his fifth podium of the season, his third in a row. His teammate Dani Holgado completed a demanding race at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. Despite losing a few positions in the early laps, halfway through the race Holgado regained the good feeling he had experienced throughout the weekend and overtook several of his rivals to finish the Portuguese Grand Prix in seventh position. Holgado leaves Portimao with a 35-point lead over his teammate David Alonso, confirming his status as the best rookie in the intermediate category. He has also secured sixth place in the overall standings with 188 points, out of reach of seventh-placed David Alonso.

3º David Alonso (+0.492): “Sometimes it's good to be competitive and look for those last two tenths, but on days like today you have to remember where we come from, from fighting with the safety car in the first race in Thailand to now getting three consecutive podiums. We still have a little way to go, but the work has been very good and the team deserves these results. The race was very long, but it was very much in the Moto2 style, with everyone setting their own pace. We had to be within the same tenth the whole time, and I'm not used to that, but it will be good for me in the future."

7º Dani Holgado (+8.376): “It wasn't an easy race, especially at the start, because it took me a while to find my pace and, above all, to get a good feeling. It was difficult to stop the bike under heavy braking, but even so, I think I had a great race. Despite the difficulties, I kept pushing, recovered positions, and was able to ride at a competitive pace. I'm also happy because I've won the 'Rookie of the Year' title. The team deserves it immensely because they've worked so hard to achieve the results we've had throughout the year. I only have words of gratitude for them for all their effort and dedication. They've helped me become a better rider and a better person. Let's enjoy this magnificent end of the season together in Valencia."
