David Alonso and Dani Holgado very motivated to continue working for good results at the eighth round of the season
David Alonso and Dani Holgado face the second Spanish round of the season this week. The Aragon GP, which will be almost full, will offer a beautiful setting to enjoy a new weekend in which the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team wants to show its best version again. Alonso is at his best after getting his first podium in the intermediate class at the last UK Grand Prix, where he finished third and even fought for the win with some of the most experienced riders on the grid. Senna Agius and Diogo Moreira were first and second respectively on a dayin which the other team member, Dani Holgado, was unable to score points after a difficult race. Holgado knows what it is like to be on the podium at Aragon, being also the Grand Prix where he did it for the first time in the World Championship, in 2022. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider, despite not scoring at Silverstone, keeps his head high and takes every weekend as a new opportunity to continue learning. As for David Alonso, getting a podium at Aragon is still a pending appointment. He has only raced there once, last year, when he ended in fourth position after starting from pole. The good sensations of the last few rounds are only a reflection of the great work that the current Moto3 champion is doing together with the team in his debut year in Moto2.
Manu González arrives to Aragon as the Moto2 leader, although he saw his advantage over second-placed Aron Canet reduced after failing to score points in a race in which Canet was fourth. Third-placed Jake Dixon could only finish eleventh in front of the home crowd. As for the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders, Holgado is thirteenth and Alonso fifteenth, and both are first and second respectively in the rookie of the year standings.
Dani Holgado: “It's a circuit we know quite well, both the team and I. We have that extra motivation because it's like a home Grand Prix for us. The objective is to continue in the same line, to keep evolving and improving. I'm sure that if we do everything right, we can do a great job this weekend.”
David Alonso: "After our first podium in Moto2, the Aragon Grand Prix will be a great opportunity to put everything we've learned into practice, as we were able to compete with the top riders in the category at Silverstone. I've only been to Aragon once in Moto3, and we saw that the asphalt was very abrasive, so we'll have to see how the tyres will work this time. I want to continue refining my riding style with the Moto2 bike, trying to lean more on the rear wheel when cornering to get more slide. The goal is to have a consistent weekend and try to maintain the position in each practice session, between sixth and ninth. We want to be constant in the top 10 to continue building a base for the future.”
