Step forward for Dixon and Guevara in Jerez

The Autosolar GASGAS Aspar riders have completed a positive day of testing in which they have been able to make progress on their bikes

Twenty of the Moto2 World Championship riders have taken part in the practice day held today at the Jerez – Ángel Nieto circuit, where Aron Canet was the fastest rider of the day, with a time of 1:41.264. His teammate Sergio García has completed the double for his team by finishing 18 thousandths of a second behind him, while the third position is for Autosolar GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon. Most of the riders achieved their best times in the first session of the day due to the subsequent increase in temperatures. One of the main absentees from the day was the World Championship leader, Pedro Acosta, who was second on Sunday and today has not been on the track. The next occasion in which all the riders will meet again on the track will be on Friday, May 12, for the first free practice of the French Grand Prix.

GASGAS Aspar Autosolar rider Jake Dixon finished the day of testing in Jerez in third position but having been able to complete a work plan that will allow him, together with his technical team, to make the best possible decisions on the set-up of the bike in the next races. The Briton achieved a best time of 1:41.318, 54 thousandths off the fastest time, and completed a total of 49 laps around the Andalusian track. For his teammate Izan Guevara, this day of testing in Jerez has been "really positive", since from the first moment he has managed to be fast on his bike and has been able to take a step forward compared to the first two races in which he has competed. Specifically, the Autosolar GASGAS Aspar rider has managed to improve his best time of the weekend by one second today, setting the bar at a respectable 1:41.838 after 45 laps. Guevara has faced this beginning of the year as a new pre-season, so this test day was marked in red on the calendar to continue adapting to the intermediate category. The balance of the test day on the Andalusian track is very satisfactory for the Mallorcan rider, who is already looking forward to next week’s French Grand Prix.

3rd Jake Dixon (+0.054, 49 laps): "It's been a busy day, testing a lot of things. We still have work to do at Le Mans, but it's been a productive day. We've tested different modifications and we know what works and what not. We have to sit down to evaluate how it has gone and which direction we take in the next races.”

10th Izan Guevara (+0.574, 45 laps): "It has been a really positive test because we have managed to feel comfortable on the bike and find our limit. Now we have a lot of information. I am very happy: we have lapped very fast and we are much closer to the top, since in the morning we were half a second behind the first. We're good, we're strong and we understand everything better every time. We're ready to go to Le Mans.”
