Positive start for Inde GASGAS Aspar in Australia

Jake Dixon finishes the first practice sessions 0.095 off the top 3, with Izan Guevara in eleventh place

Fermín Aldeguer has started the Australian Grand Prix on a high. The Spanish rider has been the fastest in the first and second practice and has closed the day with a best time of 1:32.548. Only Aron Canet, who has finished just over a tenth off Aldeguer's lap, has been able to get close to him, as the third placed rider, Pedro Acosta, has ended up almost half a second off the best time. The Moto2 leader has not been able to improve in the second practice and has suffered a crash at the end of the session. As for Tony Arbolino, the Italian has completed the first day in Australia in twelfth place, more than seven tenths off Acosta's lap. Arbolino will try to improve tomorrow to prevent his championship rival from increasing even more his lead in the overall standings.

The Inde GASGAS Aspar has had a positive start of the Australian Grand Prix. Jake Dixon has finished fourth, less than a tenth off the top 3. Despite not having the best feeling, the British has been able to set a good lap time and closes the day among the strongest riders. Dixon will keep working tomorrow to find a bike set-up with which he can fight for a good grid position. His teammate Izan Guevara has ended his first day in Australia in eleventh place, one of his best results in practice so far. Phillip Island is a special circuit for the Spanish rider and today he has shown that he feels comfortable riding at this track. With the memory of becoming World Champion there last year, Guevara will try to qualify for Q2 for the first time this season.

4th Jake Dixon 1:33.098 (+0.550): “Today has not been our best day. We need to improve because the feeling has not been great. We have tried different settings, but they have not worked well. We'll see what we can do tomorrow.”

11th Izan Guevara 1:33.696 (+1.148): “I'm happy with today's work, although I have had a lot of chattering. We have closed the first day in eleventh position and we know that we have the speed. It's always good to be back at Phillip Island, a circuit that brings me good memories. That helps me a little bit, last year was an amazing season. I showed the kind of rider I am and I will do it again.”
