Dixon and Guevara have finished the day in thirteenth and fourteenth position respectively, both seven tenths off the best time and in provisional Q2 positions
The start of the San Marino GP has once again demonstrated that the intermediate category is really tight, with twenty riders in less than a second. Only 0.966 separates Aron Canet, who has been fastest, and Joe Roberts, who has ended twentieth. Canet has been able to set a time of 1:35.561 and has finished one tenth ahead of second-placed, Celestino Vietti, and two ahead of third-placed, Manu González. The World Championship leader, Sergio García, has ended up out of that tight top 20. The Spanish rider has crashed in the morning session and, although he has been declared fit by the doctors to return to the track, he has only been able to finish twenty-fourth in the afternoon. His main rival in the championship and teammate, Ai Ogura, has been sixth, just ahead of third-placed rider in the standings, Alonso López.
CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team has concluded the first day in Misano in provisional Q2 positions. Jake Dixon has been thirteenth while Izan Guevara has finished just behind him, both seven-tenths off the best time. Dixon has got off to a good start at the San Marino GP and in the first practice session he has set the eighth best time. However, in the afternoon session, the British has had a crash that has affected his practice. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has been able to return to the track and it has been then when he has achieved his best time, 1:36.308. Dixon knows he has room for improvement and hopes to make a step forward tomorrow to fight for a good grid position. His teammate Izan Guevara has gone from lowest to highest on the first day in Misano. In the morning, he has ended in twenty-fourth position, more than a second off the best time, while in the afternoon he has managed to finish just seven tenths off to be fourteenth. Tomorrow, in the final free practice session, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider will fight to continue his progress and secure a place in Q2.
12+1 Jake Dixon 1:36.308 (+0.747): “It has been a difficult day. The first session has gone pretty well, I have followed the plan and we have stayed on the same tyre, as we always do. The second session has been more complicated. I have found a lot of traffic when I have gone out to test the race pace. I have also struggled with the tyres. When I have put on new tyres, I have not been able to get the most out of them in one lap. We need to work to find the right direction and be better tomorrow.”
14th Izan Guevara 1:36.323 (+0.762): “We are in provisional Q2 positions, but we are at the limit. Everything is very tight. Misano is a track that is difficult for us. I have struggled with braking today, but we will sort it out for tomorrow.”
