Polarcube GASGAS Aspar looking for a solid weekend in Germany

Jake Dixon and Izan Guevara, ready for a new race at Sachsenring, where they hope to continue with the good feelings of Mugello

The Moto2 World Championship does not stop and the intermediate category riders are ready for their next challenge, the German Grand Prix. Tony Arbolino arrives as the leader in the overall standings, but with Pedro Acosta's win at Mugello, the Italian has seen how his advantage over the Spanish has been reduced by five points. Now, 20 points separate the top two riders of the season so far, the riders who have taken five of the six possible victories. The fight for third place is even tighter, with four riders separated by eight points. Alonso Lopez closes out the top three with 71 points, while Filip Salac, Aron Canet and Jake Dixon, with 63 points, complete the top 6. In 2022 it was the current Moto2 champion, Augusto Fernández, who took the win at Sachsenring, followed by his then teammate Pedro Acosta, who this year will be determined to get the victory in order to get closer to the lead.

The first three back-to-back races of the season continue this weekend in Germany, where the Polarcube GASGAS Aspar arrives with the good feelings of Jake Dixon's podium in Italy and the improvement of Izan Guevara, who closed the gap to the fastest riders a bit more. Dixon aims to maintain the level he showed at Mugello, and to improve his race starts to be able to fight for the front positions. The British rider aims to complete a solid weekend that would allow him to reach the mid-season break in the top five of the overall standings. His teammate Izan Guevara comes back to a track where he dominated last year in Moto3. Guevara showed great pace from the first day, led the practice, took pole, set the circuit lap record and won the race by more than four seconds. This year, he arrives after achieving his best result in Moto2, so the Spanish will try to continue with his positive evolution in a circuit that suits his style.

Jake Dixon: “In Italy I couldn’t fight for the win because I didn't have a good start. I know that in the race, when I am up against other riders, I can overtake them: I showed that in Italy, where I was able to overtake all the rivals I fought with, but I need a better start if I want to challenge Acosta or Arbolino. We will keep on working.”

Izan Guevara: “We will be looking for a good result in Germany. Last year we took the win, but it was a different category. It's a very physical circuit where you can't relax. We will see how it goes with the Moto2. We will try to keep improving and developing the set-up of the bike.”
